Managing Substance Abuse in the Workplace 2016

The session will explore the issue and scope of substance abuse in the workplace. Participants will investigate the roles, responsibilities and duties of employers when assisting employees with substance abuse problems. Participants wil be given tools and strategies to help them accommodate the substance abusing employee and ensure a successful return to work. 

Objective: To provide participants with the skills to address substance abuse issues in the workplace.

1. Alcohol and Other Drugs:

• Participants will explore common drugs of abuse.
• Participants will explore signs of alcohol and drug use in the workplace.

2. The Supervisors Role:

• Participants will define the supervisors role in addressing substance abuse in  the workplace .
• Participants will explore the consequences of not intervening with the substance abusing employee.

3. Employee Assistance:

• Participants will explore the resources available to help employees.
